Symmetry Flashcards
1
Q
Symmetry
A
Symmetry is a type of invariance. Symmetry is a mapping of the object onto itself which preserves the structure and shape of the object.
2
Q
Line of Symmetry
A
A line of symmetry is a line that cuts a shape exactly in half. If you folded the shape along the line, both halves would match exactly.
3
Q
Rotational Symmetry
A
A shape has rotational symmetry when it still looks the same after a rotation. A shape has rotational symmetry when it can be rotated and still looks the same.
4
Q
Orders of rotational symmetry
A
The order of rotational symmetry of a shape is the number of times it can be rotated around a full turn and still look the same.
