Q

Can you have more than two swings in a bay?

A

No - they shall be divided by construction parts into bays so that there are no more than two seats per bay.
NOTE This is to discourage children from crossing the path of swings in use.

Q

Swing frames attached to other equipment like a fort need to have other measures taken to segregate them from other activities such as….

13
Q

How do you measure free height of fall on a swing

A

16
Q

Can fall spaces of different swings overlap?

A

No.

17
Q

If the swings are in the same structure can fall space overlap?

A

Yes, provided that they comply with horizontal spacing requirement (e.g. 20% length suspension + 300mm). When swings are placed near other items of play equipment, the falling space of the swing and the fal-ling space of the other play equipment shall not overlap.

18
Q

Width of impact area for a seat less than 500mm (normal swing and contact swing)

A

1,75 m.

19
Q

Impact area for a single point tyre swing

A

circular with a radius as specified .867x suspension + 1.75 or 2.25

20
Q

Single point swing fixing point - can the cables twist?

A

No. - universal joint should be used. And it needs secondary support

21
Q

Contact swings - what is needed on the swing to stop people jumping into each other

A

restraining bar or vert tyre.

22
Q

Width of impact area for a swing seat greater than 500mm (for normal and contact swings)

A

shall be increased by the difference between 500 mm and the actual width of the seat.
