Conditions with difficulty swallowing
A
- Achalasia (liquids and solids)
- Oesophageal tumour: get progressively worse + weight loss
- GORD: comes with heartburn
- Lymphoma (hurts when drinking alcohol)
- Epiglottitis (EMERGENCY: sore throat, fever, difficulty breathing, common in children, Haemophilius influenza type B (anti vacs patient)
Neuro: - MS
- Muscular dystrophy
- Parkinson’s disease
- Stroke
Pharynx - Pharyngoesophageal diverticulum (pouch that collects food; comes with halitosis (sticky breath))

- Neck swelling
- Abdominal pain
- Vomiting
- Haematemesis
- Change in bowel habit (bowel cancer)
- Coughing/ aspiration
