Causes of Painful Joints
A
- Gout (affects big toe first)
- Pseudogout (stiffness, warmth, big joints)
- Rheumatoid arthritis (swan neck deformity, ulnar deviation)
- Osteoarthritis
- Lupus (systemic: butterfly rash, sensitivity to light, kidney problems, mouth sores, muscle pain)
- Osteomyelitis (fever, pus, sweating)
- Reactive arthritis (cant see, cant pee cant climb a tree)

A
- Swelling
- Warmth
- Tenderness
- Redness
- Pain with movement
- Stiffness

Questions to ask for joint pain?
A
- Symmetry in joint pain?
- Any stiffness?
- Any swelling?
- Any diurnal variation in symptoms?
- Does activity or heat make symptoms better?
- Any lumps or swelling; Heberden’s/ Bouchard = osteoarthritis
- Deformities: swan neck, ulnar deviation, boutienner’s deformity of the thumb

A
- Rashes
- Red eyes
- Dry eyes
- Weight loss
- Diarrhoea
- Mouth/ Genital Ulcers
- PR bleeding
