What is a SUSTAINABLE PRACTITIONER
A sustainable practitioner is able to apply frameworks of sustainable practice (ecological, social, political, and economic) to the context of their industry, occupation in order to challenge existing practices and develop more sustainable ways.
SUSTAINABILITY modle underpinned by four principles
Activities/impactsthat result in minerals extracted from the Earth’s crust accumulating in natural systems as pollutants (fossil fuels, heavy metals, scarce metals, scarce minerals)
Activities/impactsthat result in man – made and synthetic substances accumulating in natural systems such as pollutants (chemicals, pesticides, solvents)
Activities/impacts which directly damage nature and natural system
Be ethical. Activities/impacts which directly or indirectly affect the ability of people to meet their needs.
How to care FOR OUR PLANET
Reduce our dependence on fossil fuels
and heavy metals
Reduce our dependence on synthetic
chemicalsthat persist in nature
Reduce our destruction of nature
Ensure we are notstopping people
globally from meeting their needs
