Hemodialysis
A
treatment for renal failure; the machine cleans blood via a surgically created blood vessel called a fistula; if blood sits for some time, it can clot; done by a nephrologist

A
same as Hemodialysis but it is in children and acute RF; look up what it looks like

Lithotripsy
A
uses ultrasound to break up stones; done by urologist; pt needs to get anesthetized due to the vibrations causing bruising to the skin and muscle

A
PKD; untreated diabetes; Lupus
used when kidneys are completely damaged

Lithotomy
A
surgery to remove a stone; used in the olden times, doctors now use lithotripsy

Urinary Catheterization
A
placement of a flexible tube into the bladder through the Urethra to collect urine (CATH)
