Cystolithiasis
presence of stones in the bladder
Diabetes Mellitus
Glycosuria (excess of sugar in urines), Hyperglycemia (high blood glucose), Polydipsia (increase in thirst), Polyuria (increase in urine); damage to nephron
Nephrolithiasis
presence of stones in the kidney
Nephrosclerosis
bc of high blood pressure; hardening of the kidneys
PKU
(Phenylketonuria) a rare inherited disorder that causes an amino acid called phenylalanine to build up in the body
PKD
(Polycystic Kidney Disease) an inherited disorder in which clusters of cysts develop primarily within your kidneys, causing your kidneys to enlarge and lose function over time
Renal Failure
Acute- general anesthesia (side effect is the chance of kidney not waking up); infection
(2 days-2 weeks)
Chronic- untreated diabetes; PKD–>born w/ it
UTI
(Urinary Tract Infection) bacterial infection of the urinary tract; more common in females due to their anatomy; UTI can turn into bladder infection if untreated
Wilms Tumor
childhood malignant cancer of the kidney
