Major wounds get vaccine if >5 years ago and patient has had at least 3 doses and Ig is given if patient has had less than 3 doses

Minor wounds never get Ig but get vaccine if less than 3 doses in past

Immediate post-op transfusion fever…

leukocytes release cytokines during blood storage.

Treatment: stop transfusion… rule out hemolysis and antipyretics but avoid aspirin if they are thrombocytopenic
