Surgical intervention for oesophageal cancer
Oesophagectomy. Oesophagus gets joined to the stomach
Surgery for GORD and to prevent progression into Barrett’s oesophagus and eventual cancer
Nissen fundoplication. Top of the stomach is wrapped around itself to create an artificial cardiac sphincter
