10
Q

process of polymer coating

A

metal parts are pre-heated before being dipped
when powder is used it is in a fluidised tank. air is blown into the bottom of the tank which makes the powered plastic appear to bubble

Q

process of galvanising

A

steel dipped into molted zinc - creates a metallurgical bond - crystalline surface
1 - clean
2 - rinse
3 - piczling
4 - rinse
5 - flux solution
6 - molten zonc bath
7 - cooling and cleaning

13
Q

what does powder coating involve

A

involves the use of an electrostatic charge. the powder is positively charged. the object to be coated is negatively charged

the charge is sprayed onto the surface, the electrostatic charge means that it sticks evenly

it is then put into an oven where the ecoting melts and forms a smooth ad hard wearing surface

16
Q

what does the process of anodising create

A

an outside layer that makes the surface smooth and protects from corrosion
the oxide layer is also to accept dyes of variety of colours
