Surface Anatomy Flashcards
How can you feel the iliac crests?
Muffin-top region, top of the hips
Where can you find the pubic symphysis?
in the midline between the pubic bones
Where can you find the pubic tubercle?
found a thumb width away from the pubic symphysis (laterally)
Where can you find the inguinal ligament?
this connects the anterior superior iliac spine to the pubic tubercle (along the V-line)
Where can you feel the femoral artery?
below the midinguinal point
How can you locate the femoral pulse?
femoral vein is just medial to the point, femoral nerve is a fingers width lateral and the femoral head is just posterior
Where would you feel the hamstring tendons?
can be seen and felt at the superior borders of the popliteal fossa
Where can you find the medial malleolus of the foot?
medial side of the ankle
Where can you find the lateral malleolus of the foot?
lateral side of the ankle, 1cm lower than the medial malleolus
Where can you find the posterior tibial artery?
it is palpable halfway between the medial malleolus and the calcaneal tendon
Where an you find the dorsalis pedis artery?
felt just lateral to the extensor tendon of the big toe on top of the navicular
