What are the 4 evil traits of Hypocrites described in Ayahs 41-43?

A
  1. Listeners if Lies
  2. Listeners for other people who did not come to you (spies)
  3. Displace/Distort the words of Allah
  4. Eaters of the Unlawful (suht) → Bribes
32
Q

What is the wisdom behind Qisas? And what did the Bani Israel do to avoid it?

A

● Human life is sacred, violence will continue if the murderer is not stopped. With punishment a lesson will be learned by himself and others. Also injustice towards humans, gives the wronged rights. The Bani Israel paid bribes to the rabbis/scholars to change the rulings, by making the punishments lighter. This also proves why money cannot be retribution for murder/assault since the rich will continue to get away with it.

33
Q

What is Fastabiqul Khayrat and how can we do it?

A

● Racing towards Good, that which Allah has revealed. So ever good deed that can be done is done and to the best of your ability. Only can be done when you realize the end is standing in front of Allah, so you are not concerned about anything else except doing good. Racing means you are not stopping and getting distracted, you know your goal.

34
Q

Why is the concept of introspection so important in Islam? What does it help us do?

A

We will not be able to follow the commands of Allah & do Fastabiqul Khayrat if we don’t look inside and think are we adhering to what we know? Are we coming up with excuses for commands or Sunnah even though we know what we are supposed to do? Hidayah of Ilm does’nt guranteee Hidayah of Tawfiq. Introspection allows us to do a self-check and redirect ourselves and allows us to grow/improve.

35
Q

What are the 3 characteristics of true believers who are our awliyah(true friends)?

A
  1. Establish Salah
  2. Pay Zakah
  3. Do Ruku’ → HUMBLE/MODEST
36
Q

What are the 4 etiquettes of listening to the adhan?

A
  1. Listen silently & respectfully
  2. Respond to the Mu’adhan – repeat after adhan
  3. Send Salawaat upon Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
  4. Recite the Masnoon Du’a
37
Q

How come the rabbis and scholars did not stop the Bani Israel from sinful speech? (V.63)

A

They did not want to lose their positions/power/recognition in the community. Also since they themselves were indulging in sinful speech and taking of bribes.

38
Q

Why did the Jews say the Hand of Allah is chained? What punishment did they receive in return? (V.64)

A

● They were upset that now the Prophethood was given to the lineage of Ismael (AS) not their Bani Israel lineage. And now they weren’t the ones in power/didn’t have as much wealth so blamed Allah for being stingy. Allah said they will be the ones with their hands ties (stingy)

39
Q

Why does polytheism not make sense, even if you’re not a believer? (73)

A

The universe is in perfect harmony, if there were multiple gods there would be chaos. Multiple powerful beings would lead to fighting and destruction and the world would have no order/balance.

40
Q

How do we properly seek forgiveness? (74)

A
  1. Words → Istighfar & Du’a

2. Actions → performing those deeds which earn forgiveness
