A
- May be distressing
- May be disturbed by memory of resus
- May physically or emotionally hinder staff during resus

How to involve relatives during resus:
A
- Ensure introductions made & names of relatives known
- Acknowledge difficulty of situation
- Give simple, clear explanation of what was happened & what to expect in resus
- Allow opportunity for relatives to witness resus
- Explain that they will be looked after whether they witness resus or not
- Able to leave & return at any time during resus
- Ask not to interfere during resus
- Offer opportunity to ask questions

- Ensure early contact with 1 team member from the medical team
- Suitable setting for relatives to wait
- Break bad news smpathetically
- Arrange viewing of body
- Arrange religous/pastoral care
- Arrange legal & pratical arrangements
