How can we support the family caregivers
- Acknowledge the challenges and
emotional toll of caregiving. - Encourage self-care and stress
management for caregivers. - Emphasize that it’s okay to take breaks
or limit visits as needed.
Define compassion fatigue and how to prevent and manage it
Compassion fatigue is the emotional strain or distress that results from caring for others who are suffering.
- Practice self-care and seek emotional support.
- Engage in therapy or debriefing sessions to process emotions.
- Set emotional boundaries in caregiving roles.
Define burnout and how to prevent and manage it
Burnout is a state of physical, mental, and
emotional exhaustion caused by prolonged
and excessive stress, often related to work or
other long-term responsibilities.
- Prioritize workload management (delegate or say no when needed).
- Take regular breaks and vacations to recharge.
- Advocate for systemic changes to reduce stress
