How do people vote?
A
Voters get a ballot paper with the candidates listed in 2 columns one column for the first choice and the second for the second. They put an x in each column

How are votes counted?
A
All the first choice ballots are counted if anyone has a majority they win if no one has a majority all but the top two candidates get eliminated. The second preferene for the eliminated candidates is taken into account and votes redistributed
If a voters first and second candidate have been eliminated the vote is ignored
With 2 candidates left one of them must have a majority. This person is the winner.
