Patient keeps mouth open wide during and for 2 minutes after the injection
What is the angle used for the GG block?
From the labial commisures to the intertragic notch
Which nerves are anesthetized with the V-A block?
IA, lingual, mental, mylohyoid within the pterygomandibular space and the long buccal 75% of the time
When is the V-A block useful?
When similar anesthesia is needed to that of the IA or GG blocks but in patients with severe trismus or who have issues holding their mouth open.
Called the “closed-mouth” mandibular block
Where is the penetration site for the V-A block?
Soft tissue medial to the ramus
Directly adjacent to the maxillary tuberosity
Height of MGJ of maxillary molars
