Superficial Intrinsic Back Muscles Flashcards
Where does the serratus posterior superior originate?
Spinous processes of C7-T3
Where does the serratus posterior superior insert?
Superior borders of ribs 2-4
What is the innervation of the serratus posterior superior?
Spinal nerve T2-T5
anterior rami
What action does the serratus posterior superior do?
elevate the ribs
Where does the serratus posterior inferior originate?
Spinous processes of T11-L2
Where does the serratus posterior inferior insert?
inferior borders of ribs 8-12
What innervates the serratus posterior inferior?
anterior rami
spinal nerve T9-T12
What action does the serratus posterior inferior do?
depress ribs
Where does the splenius capitas originate?
SPinous process of C3-C7
Where does the splenius capitas insert?
lateral superior nuchal line on the occipital bone
mastoid process
Where does the splenius cervicis originate and insert?
Originates at the Spinous processes of T3-T6 and inserts at the transverse process of C1-C2
what innervates the Splenius Capitas and splenius cervicis?
spinal nerve C1-C6
posterior rami
What do the splenius capitas and cervicis do
Bilaterallly –> extend cervical spine and head
unilaterally –>flexes and rotates head to same side
What are the superficial intrinsic back muscles
Serratus Posterior and Splenius
