What is normally used to treat Tinia Corporis & Cruris?
Topical Clotrimazole or Terbinafine
Use oral therapy if topical fails or patient is immunocompromised/ is widespread
What is normally used to treat Tinia Capitis?
Oral treatment normally required (Terbinafine or Griseofulvin)
plus ketoconazole, selenium sulphide shampoo or terbinafine cream
What directions are normally given with taking Griseofulvin?
Take with or after fatty food
Avoid taking with oral contraceptives
What is first line treatment for athletes foot?
Imidazole cream or terbinafine cream
What do you use to treat athletes foot if first line creams fail?
ORAL terbinafine, itraconazole or Griseofulvin
When should you avoid using terbinafine?
- Pregnancy
- Liver disease
- Severe renal impairment
What do you normally use for fungal nail infections?
Amorolfine
- Only suitable if mild and superficial in up to 2 nails (or people who cannot take systemic agents)

What is Pityriasis Versicolour?
Colonization of the stratum corneum
What is normally used to treat Pityriasis Versicolour?
Topical:
- Ketoconazole shampoo
- Selenium sulphide shampoo
- Clotrimazole etc creams (if infection is mild and small)
Oral:
- If topical fails or infection widespread
- Itraconazole or Fluconazole
What is normally used for superficial candida infections? e.g. vaginal and oral thrush?
Topical:
- Imidazoles
- Polyenes
Oral:
- Fluconazole
