Summary of Statistical Tools Flashcards
Used to determine the relationship between categorical or nominal variable ( ex; there is / isn’t a significant relationship between the sex of the respondents and their voting preference )
Chi-Square of Independence
Used to determine the relationship between continuous data ( ex; there is / isn’t a significant relationship between the perception of the students about alternative learning and their level of motivation to pursue studies )
Pearson R Correlation Coefficient
Used to compare the means of two groups to determine whether they significantly differ from one another ( ex; there is / isn’t a significant difference in the student level of motivation between the control group and the experimental group )
T-Test
Used to compare the means of three or more groups to determine if there are any statistically significant differences between them ( ex; there is / isn’t a significant difference in the students level of motivation to pursue studies when they are grouped according to their educational attainment )
ANOVA ( Analysis of Variance )
Used when the objective is to predict scores on one variable using scores on another variable ( ex; social support does not predict psychological well-being in college students )
Simple Regression
Used to predict the value of the dependent variable based on multiple independent variables ( ex; hours studies, attendance rate, and prior exam scores do not predict the exam score )
Multiple Regression
