Minor offence generally heard in the Magistrates court. Examples of summary offences are:
Disorderly conduct, drinking offences, minor assaults, shoplifting
Define indictable offence and provide an example
Serious offence generally heard before a judge and a jury in the County or Supreme Court
Examples of indictable offences are:
Rape, homicide, fraud, drug trafficking, manslaughter
Define Indictable offences heard summarily
Serious offence that can be heard and determined as a summary offence if the court and the accused agree
