Q

What is the mechanism of action of glyburide, glipizide, and glimepiride?

A

It inhibits the sulfonylurea receptor on the beta cells (on/near the ATP-sensitive K+ channels); remember - this will close the K+ channels allowing the beta cell to depolarize opening the Ca2+ channels to enter the beta cell and eventually release insulin
