Suicide and Personality Disorders Flashcards
Suicide risk assessment
IIPSLAW
Ideation: when you are feeling like this, do you ever have thoughts about wishing you were dead?
Intention: do you think you will ever follow through with these feelings?
Plan: have you ever thought about how you might fulfill this wish to die?
Specificity: assess how specific their plan is; greater specificity = greater risk
Lethality: how lethal is their plan?; high = gun, hanging, slitting wrists, throwing themselves; low = drowning, OD, smothering
Availability: do they have a gun, rx, etc? do they live alone?
What is stopping them?: if ideation is there can still go to this question even without plan or intention
