Suffragettes Flashcards
2nd evidence and argument ?
Evidence: during the wild period (1912-14) they used methods such as arson attacks, cutting phone lines and putting acid on golf courses.
Argument: this gained publicity, many suggest it was negotiable attentions because 150 suffragettes where hurt in the violence outside parliament leading the lines calling them demented.
1st evidence and argument ?
Evidence: spent £1000 on publicity and a newspaper called “votes for women”. Demonstrations in Hyde park - 40,000 women
Argument: important because Its gaining the vote because it showed that these tactics had some successful in getting publicity. Eg I’m 1908 a series of 6 meeting attracted more than 25,000 women.
3rd evidence and argument
Evidence: France didn’t get the vote despite similar female efforts during the war.
argument: this means, pre suffrage campaigns, did more than they think. France never had a pre war suffrage campaign. Crosson suggests, that’s why they never got the vote quicker.
4th evidence and argument
Evidence: views of women being kept at home was still going. They went allowed to carry on training as doctors ect.
