Subtask 10.1.2 Operate Emergency Equipment Flashcards
We have two types of fire extinguishers. What are they? On which classes of fire can each be used?
(1) Portable Water fire extinguisher (AKA ‘Halon alternative’)
(2) Portable Halon fire extinguisher
The fire extinguishers can be used to extinguish Class A, B, and C fires
Class A (paper, wood, fabric, rubber)
Class B (oils, greases, flammable liquids)
Class C (electrical or electronic equipment, live electrical)
How do you know if the flashlight is sufficiently charged?
The LED light will flash
How do you know that the PBE is airworthy?
The PBE should indicate a BLUE humidity indicator
The PBE is unserviceable if PINK humidity indicator
Once activated, how long will the PBE provide oxygen?
It will be supplied for at least 15 minutes
Green oxygen quantity on the status page guarantees that three crewmember have (???) minutes of total oxygen divided up into (???) minutes plus (???) minutes in NORM.
22 minutes with mask regulator on 100% mode and continuing cruise at 10,000’ for 98 minutes with mask regulator in NORM mode
EMER mode: supplies pure oxygen under positive pressure
100% mode: supplies pure oxygen at all cabin altitudes
NORM mode: supplies oxygen/air mixture on demand (ratio depends on cabin altitude)
In the event you inadvertently deploy the emergency escape slide, what should you do?
When a door handle is raised using the main handle while the door is armed and before escape slide deployment, stop and step away from the door and adhere to the following:
• Ensure all personnel remain clear of the door.
• Ensure the door is not used for egress/deplaning.
• Immediately notify station operations of the door/slide status and to keep all ground personnel clear of the door area.
• Arrange an alternate means of passenger and crew deplaning with station operations
• Notify and coordinate with flight attendants regarding the deplaning location and process.
• Notify Maintenance and request maintenance assistance to correct the door and/or slide status. A maintenance write-up is required in accordance with maintenance reporting procedures outlined in Flight Operations Manual SP 3100 Chapter 06 Airworthiness.
