Restores balance of neutrotransmitters in the brain in alcohol withdrawal
What is disulfiram?
Makes patient sick if they drink alcohol
What are the signs of Wernicke’s encephalopathy?
Confusion
Wide based gait ataxia
Ophthalmoplegia
What is the treatment of Wernicke’s encephalopathy?
Pabrinex (thiamine - B1)
Benzos
How is opioid abuse managed?
Methadone
What drug is used to treat acute opioid misuse?
Naloxone
What drug is used to treat benzo overdose?
Flumazenil
What drug is used to treat paracetamol overdose?
Activated charcoal - within 1hr
Acetyl-cysteine
