Describe the procedure
A
- Deltoid is detached from the acromion
- 5cm Split in made distally
- Undersurface of the acromion is removed (acromioplasty)
- Deltoid is reattached

What are the main complications?
A
Detachment of the repaired deltoid
Axillary nerve injury

Post-op precautions (0-2weeks)
A
- No active shoulder flexion

Physio 0-2 weeks

- Reinforce precautions
- Teach pulley exercises
- Teach active assisted exercises
- External rotation exercises with a stick
- Isometric cuff strengthening
- Elbow, wrist and hand exercises
- Scapula setting exercises

- Wean off sling
- Progress scapula exercises
- Start active flexion exercises
- Correct movement patterns
- Progress rot cuff exercises
- Begin deltoid strengthening
