What is the purpose of this procedure?
A
To reattach the antero-inferior labrum to the glenoid

Who is this procedure for?
A
- Those with a tear to the antero-inferior labrum
- Those with repeated anterior shoulder dislocations

Where is the incision?
A
Deltopectoral incision

Briefly describe what happens
A
- Holes are made in the glenoid and the labrum is sewn back onto the glenoid

What are the main complications?
A
- Neurovascular impairment

Physio: Pre op
A
Teach scapular stabilization exercises

Physio: 0-2 weeks
A
- Patient to retain sling for 2 weeks
- Teach how to remove sling safely for washing and dressing
- Elbow, wrist and hand exercises
- Isometric rotator cuff exercises

Physio: 2-6 weeks
A
- Start active movement exercises (check rotation with surgeon)
- Do not stretch beyond 45* into lateral rotation
- Remove sling if no longer needed for pain relief
- No combined abduction and lateral rotation

Physio: 6 weeks
A
- Correct abnormal movement patterns
- Rotator cuff strengthening
- Scapular stabilization strengthening
- Start combined abduction and lateral rotation

Physio: 12 weeks
A
- Full AROM exercises including rotator cuff through ROM

Milestones
A
Week 2:
Pre op level of PROM excluding lateral rotation and abduction
Week 6:
ROM at least 75% of pre op level
Week 14:
Pre Operative ROM in lateral rotation achieved
Full AROM with power
