Functions of the skin
- Temperature control by sweating and heat radiation

Protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays by allowing the skin protectant to absorb the UV rays and rendering them harmless

Maintaining a constant internal environment

Helps prevent water loss but are not appendages of the skin; composed of keratin
