Study Guide Questions (Study first) Flashcards
Umbilical Vein
Carries oxygenated blood from placenta into fetus
Umbilical Artery
Carries waste from fetus to the placenta
Ligamentum Arteriosus
Connects pulmonary artery to aortic arch
Ductus (vas) deferens
Connects the testes to seminal vesicles
Ductus Venosus
Connection of umbilical vein. , during 1st postnatal week, degenerates and becomes ligament venosus (fetus)
Ligamentum Venosus
Sits inside the live (Adults)
Foramen Ovale
Connects from right atria to left atria directly. Allows blood to bypass nonventilated lungs. At birth this becomes the Fossa Ovalis
Ductus Arteriosus
Direct connection between the pulmonary artery and the aorta in the fetal circulation
(inside ligamentum spinosum)
Splenic Vein
Connects spleen to hepatic (liver) portal vein
Gastric Vein
Connects stomach to superior mesenteric vein and hepatic portal vein
Inferior and Superior Mesenteric Vein
Inferior from Large intestine to splenic vein and superior form small intestine. Joints splenic vein at hepatic postal vein juncture
