Study Guide For Exam 4 Flashcards
The most abundant salutes in plasma
Plasma proteins
Serves as a transport vehicle for nutrients, chemical, messengers, and metabolites
Plasma
Stopping the blood flow
Hemostasis
Reduces blood flow, initiated by endothelial injury. Caused by local and humoral mechanisms.
Vessel spasm
Adhesion and aggregation, they are attracted to damaged vessel wall, activity by injured tissue, change form, exposing glycol, protein receptors on their surface. Adhesion requires protein called von willebrand factor after adhesion occurs.
The formation of platelet plug; thrombocytes
The coagulation cascade it turns fibrinogen into fibrin. Prothrombin is necessary and requires vitamin K from the liver. Prothrombin is converted into thrombin and then converts, fibrinogen into fibrin
Blood coagulation. Insoluble fibrin clot.
Requires large number of platelets . Plasma breaks down fibrin.
Clot retraction
Allows for blood flow to be reestablished; also known as fibrinolysis, requires plasminogen
Clot dissolution
