Studies that I often forget (1) Flashcards
1
Q
Alloy et al. (1999)
A
Tested the thinking styles of young Americans in their early 20s and placed them in positive/ negative thinking groups. After 6 years, only 1% of the positive group developed depression and 17% of the negative group did. (demand characteristics and study is correlational so does not establish cause and effect)
2
Q
Hollon et al. (2006) CBT
A
found that 40% of moderately to severely depressed patients treated with CBT for 16 weeks relapsed within a year while 45% did after drug treatment and 80% for placebo
(drugs made them feel hollow so they relapsed)
