When a writer introduces a character through a detailed description.
External
As if a camera was looking at a scene from the outside.

As if a camera was looking at a scene from the inside.
Climax
The peak of emotion in a piece (eg peak of tension)
Cyclical
When a piece ends with an idea mentioned at the beginning
Flashbacks and Flashforwards.
When chronology is broken up by an event from the past/future.

when, like a camera, the piece focusing on a specific detail or a bigger picture.
Foreshadowing
An advanced hint to something that will happen in the future.
Action
The movement of characters or things in a description
Dialogue
The development of a character or thing through spoken words.
