Structure Of Heart Flashcards
- What are the 4 chambers of the heart
- What does right hand side do
- What does left hand side do
- What’s middle separating thin wall called
- Atrium (left & right)
- Ventricles (left & right)
Right receives de oxygenated blood.pumps to lungs to collect fresh oxygen
Left pumps re oxygenated blood to body
Septum
What are 3 layers of tissue making up heart muscle
- Pericardium ( thin ,outer lining protects and surrounds heart)
- Myocardium ( thick ,muscular, middle layer pumps blood around heart
- Endocardium (thin, inner layer lines 4 chambers and valves of heart
What does Pulmonary mean
What do following do:
- Pulmonary artery
- Pulmonary vein
- Aorta
- Vena cava
Pulmonary = Lungs
Pulmonary Artery - takes deoxygenated blood back to lungs from right atrium
Pulmonary Vein- brings back oxygenated blood to left atrium
Aorta - takes oxygenated blood from left ventricle to the body
Vena Cava - Delivers de oxygenated blood to right atrium
Describe the flow of blood starting from deoxygenated blood entering the heart
Vena cava
Right atrium
Valves
Right ventricle
Pulmonary artery
Lungs
Pulmonary veins
Left atrium
Valves
Left ventricle
Aorta
