What is strophic form?

A

Strophic form is a vocal form that contains verses only. Each verse has the same melody but new lyrics. Contrasts are added to strophic structures for variety.

Through composed is where the lyrics and the melody change for each verse. It is the opposite to strophic form where the melody is the same for each verse. There is little repetition in this form therefore contrast is significant.
