Structural theory
Analysing and discussing the impact of the structure of society on how people behave, form relationships and how it has an input on their political voting
E.g the feudal system and the relationship between lords and peasants and how this influenced there vote.
How people on benefits vote in the U.K.
Theory was made by political scientist David Easton.
Cultural theory
Discussing the influence which being a part of different social groups has on political outlook
E.g. Black lives matter movement being supported by black people
Rational theory
The theory which discusses the idea that voters with the interest of themselves at heart.
E.g. Those most concerned about their carbon footprint in the U.K would likely vote for the Green Party
Elitists in America likely voting Trump in 2016 due to his tax laws.
How to use these theories
Define what they are and then give examples when answering but mention specifically the structural part of the example, if doing a structural theory question.
