  • Labs need to be taken for therapeutic levels (10-20)
  • Don’t skip or stop suddenly
  • Be careful in those who are old or debilitated or have renal/hepatic issues
  • Watch for signs of toxicity (severe liver toxicity, bone marrow suppression, gingival hyperplasia, potentially serious dermatological reactions, frank malignant lymphoma)
  • Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants
  • May last longer than expected
  • Is teratogenic
