A
- A postive psychological response to a perceived stressor/tension.
- Improves an individual’s performance through MOTIVATION
- Viewing the stressor as a CHALLENGE.

A
- A negative psychological response to a perceived stressor.
- DECREASES an individual’s performance. This can lead to mental and physical problems.

STRESS: CHONIC AND ACUTE
A
CHRONIC:
- The body’s response to a PERSISTENT stressor.
- Leaves the body vulnerable to mental and physical problems.
ACUTE:
- Short term stress
- The body’s IMMEDIATE response to a stressor
- Caused by daily demands.

Acculturation: The process of changing to a different culture in order to become more like people in that culture.
- EXAMPLE: Immigration (language barrier and dress code = STRESS).

A
- Sudden, intense and unpredictable events
- Out of an individual’s control.
- Individual experience or a group experience.
EXAMPLE: Natural disasters, car crash, genocide
NOTE: It can be positive (Reducing anxiety and stress. United as one/bringing people together). Ability for growth and increases the ability of life in the future.
