DEFINTION: PSYCHSOMATIC
A
- Involves both the mind (Brain) and the body
- Relates to bodily symptoms that are caused by mental or emotional factors/disturbances.

DEFINITION: TMSC/ STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS
A
- Transactional Model for Stress and Coping
- Refers to a subjective experience.
- TRANSACTIONAL: Transactions between the person and the environment. Depends on the external stressor.
STRENGTHS:
- Views stress as an interaction with the environment in which a person has an active role/
- Allows us to change our thinking about a stressor and our response to it.
LIMITATIONS:
- Overlooks physiological (Biological) responses
- An individual may not be always conscious of all factors that causes them to experience a stressful response.

- Benign positive: Pleasant/desirable event
- Irrelevant: No personal relevance
- Stress: Harm/loss, Threat, Challenge (Opportunity for personal growth)

CONTEXTUAL FACTORS:
- A set of circumstances that surround a particular event.
- Influences whether we perceive the stimulus as a stressor
- Context and individual factor: Influence the perception of the stressor and their coping ability.

- A person’s ability to stop an INEFFECTIVE strategy and implement an effective alternative.
