Stress and Adaptability Flashcards
Tell me about a time you were stressed at work and how you handled it.
Black Friday 2019 sale.
Preparing FB, Google, Amazon, Website & Email for the comprehensive, multi-stage campaign.
The process and ensuring everything was done according to plan was incredibly stressful.
To reduce the stress and anxiety, I broke up large projects into smaller items, which I then further broke down again. As an example, make Facebook ads for Black Friday were broken down to Make a pre-Friday campaign, make a new customer campaign, make the retargeting campaign. These tasks were then broken down further into smaller tasks like: Create audience for the pre-Friday campaign, send a request with instructions to Graphic Design for the Pre-Friday campaign, etc.
I utilised Agile to then organise and prioritise tasks, and kept track of task completion in a Google Spreadsheet; tracking based on the day a given task had to be performed.
My efforts ensured the campaign went off without a hitch and we were able to increase sales and profit generated from Black Friday by 50%, compared to 2018.
Tell me about a time you were under a lot of pressure. What was going on, and how did you get through it?

Describe a time when your team or company was undergoing some change. How did that impact you, and how did you adapt?
Whilst working at ATP Science, our office, like almost everyone in Australia was affected by COVID-19 Lockdowns.
The results of this meant that we had to work from home for a few months of last year.
In order to deal with the changing environment and to keep motivated & job-focused, I replicated the management process I utilised at work at home. I set up an Agile board in my office and wrote up daily tasks, utilising a burndown chart to track progress.
My self-discipline and continued use of familiar management strategies ensured that working from home was business as usual; and was a contributor to our 23% increase in online sales in 2020.
Tell me about a time you realised you made a mistake and what you did to rectify this.
Late last year, a paused automation that advertised a sale was paused in Salesforce. This automation turned itself back on after 14 days had elapsed, leading to incorrect information being sent out.
I immediately set about rectifying this by talking to the team and highlighting responsibilities to manage this issue such as correct social media messaging and the creation of a new follow up email to quickly send out a correction notice. I also owned up to my mistake to my supervisor immediately and investigated why this happened.
As a result of my actions, I was able to reduce the potential brand damage to being almost negligible and I ensure now that any future program I or my team uses is properly trained for.
Tell me about a time you’ve experienced a major setback, and how you handled it.
When I started working at Harvest Education Technical College, I thought that I was quite strong with Facebook advertising and I knew how it all worked. This frankly arrogant view leads me to create campaigns that were subpar and did not deliver to my expectations.
As I saw more and more everyday failure, I decided to pull my head in and realise that I need to investigate and understand both the platform and my customers better; and not just assume it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.
Over the next 12 months, I was able to refine my campaigns to help deliver on average 150% more monthly leads (compared to when I started). As a result of my failure, I now know that I do not know everything about digital marketing and always approach new opportunities with a desire to learn and understand the product, platform and customer I am marketing.
