Is avoidant coping helpful?
avoidant coping is helpful in the short run but maladaptive in the long run, but there are exceptions: When stressors are uncontrollable (e.g., in impoverished environments), avoidant coping becomes adaptive
what are the 2 components of coping?
- Realizing that what happened cannot be undone or changed.
- Believing that, despite this, life is okay— acceptable.
