Rio Metro
The Rio Metro has two lines, 35 stations and 41km of track. it carries 1.1 million passengers a day
Rio’s safest, fastest and cleanest public transport.
However, during rush hours the carriages are crowded and the metro only has 5% of journeys compared to cars and buses.
Metro Rio has extended by adding Line 4 which added an extra six stations this manages transport by relieving pressure on already congested routes towards the CBD
Yellow line expressway
A motorway that connects Barra Di Tijuca to the north and international airport
Around 70,000 vehicles use it per day so it has managed to reduce congestion by 40%.
It has cut journey times from the CBD to suburbs by 45mins and has taken pressure off roads within the CBD and inner areas of Rio.

Rio-Niteori bridge
A bridge that 140,000 vehicles use a day with 8 lanes of traffic. It is shorter than the 80km drive or 1 hour ferry ride to the same place.
However, because of rising car ownership, the bridge is jammed at rush hours and accidents on the bridge can cause huge traffic jams as there are no other routes.
