Straight Volume and Indentation Flashcards
Define “Straight Volume”
Creates lift and fullness. Base and strand lifted. Ends turned under. Position of tool in relation to base will effect lift or volume, amount of base strength
Define “Straight Indentation”
Creates areas of hollowness or depression. Base and strands are flat. Ends turn upward.
Define “Base Control”
Size of base in relation to the diameter of the tool
Define “Base Size”
Position of the tool in relation to the base
Define “Tool Positon”
Base Width - Diameter of tool
Base Length - Length of tool
Parts of a Curl
“Base”
Area between straight or curved partings. Section of hair where roller equipment is placed
Parts of a Curl
“Stem”
Hair between scalp and first turn of hair. Determines the amount of movement .
Longer Stems = more movement
Shorter Stems = Less movement
Parts of a Curl
“Circle”
Hair positioned around tool. Determines size of curl.
Closed Circle = Smaller and stronger waves
Open Circe = Wider wave pattern with uniform curls
Rollers / Bases
“Rectangle”
Straight directional movement
Horizontal partings are used to create base shapes
Rollers / Bases
“Diamond/Kite”
Back to back triangles
Max texture at widest area
Rollers / Bases
“Rectangle Bricklay”
Used when a larger area needs to be blended better
Rollers / Bases
“Trapezoid”
Created with parallel distribution staggered or bricklay pattern
Rollers / Bases
“Triangle”
Straight movement in any direction. Narrow to wide shape
What’s “the art of shaping and defining the hair in graceful waves”?
Fingerwaves
Fingerwaves are created by?
Molding 2 alternating oblongs that are joined and connected by a ridge. waves can move across the head horizontally, diagonally, and vertically
