Q

Temperature

A
  • Different temps = different air pressures
  • Sun heats surface
  • Air is heated below ground and expands
  • Warm air = less dense - rises, cools and condenses = clouds and rain

Q

Pressure

A
  • Different air pressures = global wind patterns
  • High to low = wing
  • Bigger the difference or closer they are = stronger
Low = rain and wind
High = dry and calm
Tropical = 980
Hurricanes = 950

Q

Humidity

A
  • Influences the stability of air masses
  • Controls rainfall patterns
  • Heat transfer from ground level to atmosphere

Dry air = more stable than moist
- Hurricanes powered by latent heat stored in water vapour - released when water condenses
