Storage and Service of Wine Flashcards
Ideal storage conditions
Temperature: 55-59’ F and 55-75% Humidity
In a dim light/dark space (Cellar)
If it’s a corked wine, make sure wine is tipped on its side to ensure the cork is wet while being stored.
Screw caps may be placed facing upright
2 systems which help preserve wine
Vacuum system: Pump that removes air from bottle.
Blanket system: Inserting inert gas(i.e. Argon or Nitrogen), which is heavier than air to preserve the wine. It creates a blanket over the wine, blocking oxygen from contacting the wine.
