Stomach, duodenum, celiac trunk Flashcards
Explain intraperitoneal organ
- surrounded by the visceral peritoneum
- attached to the wall by a mesentery
- suspended within peritoneal cavity
- mobile
Explain retroperitoneal organ
- incompletely surrounded by peritoneum
- Does not have a mesentery
- fixed to the posterior abdominal wall
Mesentery
allows vesicles to enter the organ and provide blood supply for the wall
have nerves to innervate wall
has lymphatic vessels to drain from organ
also contains adipose tissue
Is double layer of peritoneum
What is the parietal peritoneum attached to?
Abdominal walls
What is the visceral peritoneum found on?
Organs
What is peritoneal cavity?
space between the parietal peritoneum and visceral peritoneum
are intraperitoneal organs inside the peritoneal cavity?
NO!!!
what dose the greater omentum anchor?
greater curvature of the stomach, ascending, transverse and descending colon, draped over duodenum and jejunum and some of ileum
what is the mesentery?
double fold of peritoneum that attaches organs to abdominal wall
what is a ligament?
double fold of peritoneum that attaches organs together
Are the sigmoid colon and transverse colon intra peritoneal?
Yes
What makes up the greater omenum?
Gastrophrenic ligament
Gastrosplenic ligament
Gastrocolic ligament
Where will fluid accumulate when a person has ascites and is laying supine?
Morrison’s pouch
peritoneal space
region of the body in which two surface membranes adjoin, separated in healthy individuals by only a small amount of fluid lubrication
What makes up the lesser omentum?
Hepatoduodenal ligament
hepatogastric ligament
hepatoesophageal ligament
What does the pylorus of the stomach do?
Controls the contents that flow into the duodenmun
