Discreditable is when there is nothing seen but there could be stigma is someone finds out
Eg HIV/ mental illness

Discredited is when there is a visible characteristic or well known stigma which sets them apart
Eg disability, known suicide attempt

What is the difference between felt and enacted stigma?

A

Enacted is the real experience of prejudice, discrimination and disadvantaged as the consequence of a condition.

Felt is the fear of enacted stigma, can result in shame (associated with having a condition). It results in selective concealment.
