One daughter becomes specialised cell
Other remains stem cell
Multipotent neural stem cells
No longer totipotent but can generate all of he cells in the nervous system
Takahashi & yamanaka
Some molecules able to induce pluripotent stem cells from mouse embryonic and and adult fibroblast cultures
Diff molecules induce diff cell type
Eg. Myc d =muscle
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS)
Embryonic stem cells
Can be induced to proliferate indefinitely while retaining totipotent character
