Men:
burning on urination
serous penile discharge that can become purulent
blood-tinged discharge
Diagnosis: nucleic acid amplification test
may progress to pelvic inflammatory disease
When patient’s partner tests positive for chlamydia…
Empirically treat with azithromycin or doxycycline for both syphilis and gonorrhea
What test will test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis?
nucleic acid amplification testing (NAT) - vaginal swabs for females and urine for males
