What are statutory Powers?

A

These are powers that do not appear written in the Constitution

What are executive orders?

A

Directives given to federal agencies and departments- (like laws made by presidents)
-a law that does not require the Senates approval

What are executive agreements?

A

Like treaties but they do not require the senates approval
-can be rescinded by future presidents

Example: Iran Nuclear Deal

What is executive privilege?

A

President and Vice president don’t have to testify before congress
-president can declare certain information privileged
-IT IS THE ONLY POWER THEY TAKE WITH THEM (only power they have after leaving office)

What are emergency powers?

A

The President has special powers in the case of a national emergency
Created by the Emergency powers act in 1976

Extra: Have almost limitless power to declare “state of emergency”
*recently used to open emergency funding to Florida
