Convulsive status epilepticus

A

IV Lorazepam
Avoid IV Diazepam (causes thrombophlebitis)

Non-convulsive status epilepticus - INCOMPLETE loss of awareness

A

Continue or restart usual oral antiepileptic drug.

Non-convulsive status epilepticus - COMPLETE loss of awareness/failure to respond to oral AED

A

Treat same as convulsive status epilepticus

Febrile convulsions

A

Seizures that occur when a child has a high fever.
Paracetamol (antipyretic)
If >5 minutes, treat the same as status epilepticus.
